The history of Atlet begins in 1958 when Knut Jacobson started producing material handling equipment at his home in Gothenburg, Sweden. The company, initially named Elitmaskiner, focused on manufacturing manual trolleys. At that time, pedestrian stackers and forklift trucks dominated the market, but Jacobson prioritized ergonomics and innovation, creating the first reach truck capable of maneuvering in narrow aisles thanks to lateral stabilizers.
In 1966, Elitmaskiner rebranded as Atlet, exporting its equipment to Norway and the Netherlands. The company also began offering professional driver training and developing software solutions for material handling simulation. Active research in ergonomics led to the creation of machines with mini-steering wheels and floating armrests.
In 2007, Atlet acquired Nissan Forklift, followed by UniCarriers in 2012.
Today, operating under the UniCarriers brand, Atlet maintains a strong position in the European market, leveraging its expertise in logistics and material handling equipment manufacturing. Each new model boasts excellent ergonomics, allowing Atlet to maintain its leading position and meet the needs of warehouse operations.
Atlet's focus goes beyond equipment manufacturing; they also develop innovative solutions that make warehouse operations more efficient and comfortable. Their compact stackers, reach trucks, and swivel forklifts are their particular pride, ensuring maximum productivity in narrow warehouse spaces.
