BT Material Handling Equipment can be confidently characterized as a European brand with Japanese roots. In line with the best traditions of Far Eastern quality, a variety of models under this brand, including electric forklifts for all warehouse needs, have been perfected and successfully brought to the market.
The BT Material Handling Equipment brand is closely associated with the renowned Japanese company Toyota. Currently, this brand (along with the Toyota Material Handling brand) is owned by Toyota Industries Corporation.
To manage the production of warehouse equipment, these two divisions created the Toyota Material Handling Group (TMHG). Its regional division, Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE), oversees all matters related specifically to the BT brand.
The establishment of BT is traditionally considered to be in the distant year of 1946. In 1948, the world saw the first manual hydraulic pallet truck from BT. Starting in 1954, the first service centers of this trade association began operating in Sweden. This was followed by the opening of a factory in the Swedish city of Mölby in 1968, the release of the first semi-automated BT model in 1978, and the development of the first 48-volt reach truck in 1983. Since 2000, BT Industries has become part of the Toyota group of companies.
Electric Forklifts by BT
The company's range includes 2 types of forklifts: electric and IC engine-powered.
In turn, electric models are represented by the BT Cargo E series. The main power source for these forklifts is traction lead-acid batteries ranging from 24 to 80 volts. The presence of the letter "E" in the designation indicates the machine's affiliation with the electric type.
Analyzing the technical characteristics of these models reveals a direct correlation between their load capacity and the capacity of the used batteries. The main features of this range of material handling equipment include:
Presence of 3 support series - model E2. This model is positioned as optimal for use in confined spaces. It is the only model operating on a 24-volt traction battery. This forklift can be used for relatively light loads (1.0-1.5 tons);
For intensive loads, the BT brand developers offer models E4 and E6. The BT Cargo E4 forklift is a transitional option with a 48-volt battery capable of lifting loads of 1,500 - 2,000 kg. It is available in both 3- and 4-support variants;
The main feature of the E6 series is the ability to choose between two configurations: for intensive loads and multiple lifting cycles, as well as a variety of this model for operation in critically narrow aisle and corridor openings;
The BT Cargo E8 model is positioned by the developer as a self-propelled loading mechanism capable of handling heavy-duty operating modes. And indeed, everything here is maximized: 4 supports, 80V batteries, lifting capacity up to 5,000kg, and a lifting height of almost 8m.
