In 1939, Japan witnessed the launch of its first loader, marking the inception of a new era in the industry. However, the onset of the Second World War temporarily halted the industry's progress.
Before the war, a limited number of three-ton electric trucks were already in production.
During the occupation, Japan imported several loaders for unloading escort vessels. Impressed by the technical excellence, Japanese design engineers decided to venture into producing their own loaders, anticipating a high demand during the country's economic recovery.
In the spring of 1955, the first concept loader, featuring a 1-ton lifting capacity and a gasoline unit, was introduced. After three months of rigorous testing, the prototype paved the way for mass production of the first Toyota LA forklifts starting from March of the following year. Following the LA model, the 1.35-ton Toyota LAW forklift was developed and released, with the towing range added by the end of the year. To stay competitive globally, Toyota decided to construct production facilities in the United States and France, despite the economic challenges in Japan. The company persisted in developing newmodels of loading equipment, introducing the Toyota 6FG/FD small forklifts in the late 20th century, prioritizing operator comfort and ergonomics. As the 21st century approached, Toyota embraced innovative technologies, launching the seventh series of forklifts with top-notch safety features. In 1995, Toyota celebrated the production of itsmillionth forklift.
In 2000, Toyota acquired BT Industries, a renowned European warehouse machinery manufacturer, solidifying its position as a leader in the global warehouse equipment industry. The year 2000 saw the introduction of the seventh series forklift, featuring three-bearing models 7FBE and four-bearing 7FB. This series incorporated the AC motor and an active stabilization system, setting new standards.
Toyota's forklifts play a crucial role in loading, unloading, and various other tasks. Known for their reliability, superior performance, and comfort, Toyota offers a wide range of forklift trucks that have gained global acclaim. With different models and engine options, customers can choose the ideal model to meet their unique requirements. Toyota produces various models, and understanding the model designation helps in decoding basic information. The first digit of the identifier indicates the generation of the series.
The first two letters denote:
FD: Diesel engine
FB: Electric
FG: Gasoline or gas engine
The load capacity in kilograms is determined by multiplying the final two or three digits by 100.
Toyota Diesel Forklifts Diesel engines are commonly used in forklifts for their efficiency, low noise, and vibration levels. Toyota employs engines specifically designed for forklift machinery, known for their durability and fuel efficiency. The manufacturer selects the best engine for each model.
Diesel engines are notable for their strength and fuel efficiency. Environmental performance can be enhanced to meet Euro 3 standards with features like fuel injection systems, catalytic converters, and other filters, along with computerized engine management. The current diesel engine versions in use include 1DZ-III, 2Z, 3Z, 15Z, and N04C. Toyota offers seven versions in the Tonero series, each with different load capacities, catering to diverse needs.
Toyota Electric Forklifts are ideal for situations where conventional engines are unsuitable, such as working in enclosed spaces. Toyota offers electric forklifts in three-wheel and four-wheel variants, each with different chassis configurations.
Hree-wheel: Suitable for maneuvering in confined spaces, these forklifts have a reduced turning radius. They are ideal for platforms with an even horizontal coating and can carry up to 2 tons. Four-wheel: Traditional design with wheels at the corners provides better stability but lower maneuverability. These forklifts can carry up to 8.5 tons. The Traigo series includes portable forklifts suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, with options for different cabins. The Traigo 48 series, with 48-volt batteries, offers both three-wheel and four-wheel models, catering to various needs.
Toyota Gas Forklifts Toyota offers forklifts with gasoline engines and models converted with a gas system. Gas-powered forklifts provide benefits such as high power, low noise, clean exhaust, efficiency, and availability of replacement parts.
Engines like 4Y, 1FS, 1FZ-E, and 5K are used in these forklifts, designed to operate on both gas and gasoline. The Tonero, 7FG, and 5FG Series are equipped with LPG engines complying with Euro 4 emissions regulations, making them suitable for indoor use.
